Prince Clement Adesuyi Haastrup the Founder and Chairman of ENL Consortium Limited, a Lagos-based group of companies, and a former Deputy Governor of Osun State, has emerged as the 49th Owa Obokun, Ajimoko lll and paramount ruler of Ijesaland. He is from the Bilaro Oluodo Ruling House.
Haastrup emerged through an election by kingmakers which was conducted within the premises of Ilesa West local government secretariat in Ilesa yesterday, supervised by the head of local government administration of Ilesa East local government, Ilesa.
It has been reported that Haastrup emerged victorious ahead of nine other eligible contenders to the throne in the selection process.
The Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has promptly approved his appointment as the new Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland with immediate effect.
The governor also named Prince Johnson Adekanmi Abikoye as the new Asaoni of Ora Igbomina.
According to the state’s Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, in a statement issued in that regard on Friday, the approval of the two monarchs was ratified and approved during the sitting of the Osun State Executive Council meeting presided over by the governor on Friday.
The emergence of Prince Haastrup as the new Owa-elect followed the demise of the immediate-past Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland, Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II on the September 11, 2024; while that of Prince Abikoye as the new Asaoni of Ora Igbomina followed the demise of Oba Tinuoye Atolagbe on November 19, 2023.
According to Alimi, Governor Adeleke while congratulating the two newly approved monarchs whom he said their choices followed due processes in line with the Chiefs’ law of Osun State 2002 (cap 25), enjoined all sons and daughters of the two towns to cooperate with their new traditional rulers, particularly in allowing peace and unity to take the centre stage in both domains.
It would be recalled that Prince Haastrup served as Deputy Governor of Osun alongside the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke from January 1992 to November 1993.

Prince Clement Adesuyi Haastrup was born on September 19th 1948 into the Ajimoko royal family of Ijeshaland in Osun State.
The then young Prince attended Eko Boys’ High School between 1963 and 1967, and Federal School of Sciences (1968-69) for his A levels. He bagged his B. Pharm at Howard University, Washington D.C in United States of America.
No sooner than he came back from USA in 1981, he went into politics and ended up as the Deputy Governor of Osun State in 1990. Believing he was a strange bedfellow in politics, he quit after his tenure, and has since then faced business squarely.
He founded ENL Consortium Limited in 2002, which has since developed into a conglomerate, diversifying with excellence into many areas such as power, port operations, hospitality, estate development, road and building construction, quarry operations and gold mining (under development), all in Nigeria.
The visionary leadership of Prince Haastrup has continuously steered the company to relevance in the business community.
He has been Chairman of many non-political and political establishments such as Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation, Electoral Committee for Gubernatorial, Senatorial and Representative Primary Elections, among others. Prince Clement Haastrup is a philanthropist with a foundation that has given education scholarships to over 500 students locally and internationally.
