Wema Bank has entered into partnership with Ekiti State government to train 100,000 its youths and women in digital and business management skills.
At an interactive session with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital recently, the state’s Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Kayode Fasae stated that the initiative is expected to provide training for selected individuals in all the categories of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) that are operating in the state.
The Commissioner stressed that the programme is designed to address poor business management skills, lack of access to funds, information, and target market, among others.
This, he said, clearly demonstrates the government’s commitment to youths and women empowerment in the state
Fasae acknowledged how Wema Bank previously sponsored the training of 2500 youths in Agricbusiness, and that his ministry was ready to maximize the deliverables of the programme and such other schemes to serve as veritable intervention for skills development.
On his part, Taiwo Olatunbosun, Honourable Commissioner for Information said that this initiative was part of efforts to breathe life into the campaign promises of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, stressing that the state government would continue to ensure that youths are given a place of pride in Ekiti state.
Remarking on the partnership, the regional manager of Wema Bank Plc, Niyi Owaduge, said that the bank would continue to partner Ekiti State government and support all the initiatives that would better the lives of Ekiti people.
In the same vein, Wema Bank’s Head of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME), Arthur Nkemeh stated that the initiative was about improving the Nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GPD), and productivity for revenue generation.
