Euromoney, the international English-language monthly magazine focused on business and finance and the leading authority for the world’s banking and finance reports, has declared FirstBank, Nigeria’s premier financial institution the best bank for Environmental, Social and Governance investment in Nigeria 2024.
Commenting on the award, Euromoney stated that the “Awards for Excellence” is the definitive annual awards programme of the global banking industry; adding that it represents the highest distinction to the banks and bankers who matter most in an industry where differentiation is highly sought after and exceptionally difficult to demonstrate.
In celebrating the prestigious award through statement which she issued, Mrs. Folake Ani-Mumuney, FirstBank’s Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, said, “the award is a recognition of FirstBank’s contributions and unwavering commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance in Nigeria which is facilitated through innovative financial solutions and initiatives”.
The statement added that Euromoney recognized the Bank’s significant progress in the implementation of an ESG management system, which facilitated the screening of N4.2 trillion new transactions for potential ESG risks in 2024.

It would be recalled that recently, FirstBank, the 130-year-old financial Super power also bagged the awards of Best SME Bank in Nigeria, Best Bank in Africa, Best Private Bank in Nigeria, and Best Private Bank for Sustainable Investment in Africa by Global Finance, for its exceptional leadership in integrating sustainable practices into its banking operations.
