Nigeria’s national female basketball team, D’Tigress proved bookmakers wrong when they won their first game at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics by beating better rated Australia earlier, today.
The score line at the end of the pulsating game was 75-62 in favour of Nigeria.
In so doing, the team made history by winning their first ever game at the tournament.
The Nigerian ladies went into the game being rated lower than the Australians. They however, turned the game around, after a slow start to win the first quarter 18-17; and did even better second quarter which they won 23-11.
D’Tigress’ next opponent are hosts France; while last group-stage match would be against Canada on August 4.
