Euro 2024, the continental soccer tourney for European countries, has come to a glamorous end with Spain lifting the continental trophy after beating England 2-1 in the final match played at Olympiastadion Berlin.
It was a record fourth time win for Spain with the decisive goal coming in the 86th minute from Mikel Oyarzabal.
Nico Williams had scored the first goal for Spain, in less than two minutes into the second half after a barren first half, while England’s Cole Palmer levelled up with a goal in the 73rd minute.
It would be recalled that Spain previously won the tournament in 1964, 2008 and 2012; and were tied with Germany as the only three-time champions before the just concluded edition of the championship.
On its part, it was the second time that England would end up as runners-up, having lost to Italy in the final of Euro 2020.
