AfDB holds African Development Bank Transport Forum, ATF2024

African Development Bank (AfDB), the regional multilateral development finance institution in Africa will, in September, hold the 2024 African Development Bank Transport Forum (ATF2024).

In a release posted on its site, the Bank states that the Forum will hold in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire from the 18th to the 19th of the month.

Having as its theme, “Africa on the Move: Accelerating Sustainable Transport and Logistics Connectivity,” ATF2024 will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, and experts from across the continent to forge critical sector reforms and offer innovative solutions.

AfDB assured that the Forum will also deliberate on logistics connectivity with a view to boosting transportation system and ease of doing business on the African continent.

The statement adds, “The forum will address such critical topics as enabling greater private sector participation, de-risking policies, integrated and smart infrastructure solutions, and innovative financing mechanisms. Discussions will also cover road safety, multimodality, and urban mobility challenges.”

It further emphasizes that ATF2024 will also showcase the AfDB’s key transport initiatives, including the Regional Corridors Initiative, Sustainable Road Maintenance Programme for Africa, Green Mobility Facility for Africa, and the Alliance for Green Infrastructure in Africa.

It would be recalled that the inaugural event of the Forum held in 2015; with this second edition aligning closely with AfDB’s new Ten-Year Strategy and High Five objectives, while reinforcing its commitment to sustainable transport development across the continent.

Expected to be part of the two-day event are Ministers of Transport and Infrastructure, representatives of roads, ports and airports authorities and heads of international organisations; as well as financial experts from AfDB, policymakers, senior transport leaders from the public and private sectors.
